CVSA International Roadcheck Has Been Announced for May 4 - 6th

Tosha Missel, PacLease Marketing Specialist

Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) International Roadcheck is quickly approaching.  CVSA International Roadcheck will have an emphasis on lighting and hours of service. Are your fleet and drivers prepared?

In 2020, 25.3% of vehicles chosen for inspection were issued a lighting-related violation.

In the U.S., nearly one in seven out-of-service violations were related to lighting, resulting in lighting being one of the top vehicle violations in the U.S.

Last year, the top driver out-of-service violation in North America was hours of service which accounted for 34.7% of all driver out-of-service conditions in 2020, out of more than 50,000 inspections, during the three-day CVSA International Roadcheck.

Other Top CMV Out-of-Service Violations were:

  •          Brake System – 25.8%
  •          Tires – 19%
  •          Lights – 13.5%
  •          Cargo Securement – 12.9%
  •          Brake Adjustment – 12.8%

Starting May 4th, over a 72-hour period Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspectors throughout U.S., Canada and Mexico will be conducting inspections.

Tips to keep in mind when maintaining your fleet:

Make sure to browse past Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) program results, and apply that information when determining maintenance practices or driver training decisions.

By addressing commonly reported problem areas, you can help keep your equipment and drivers on the road, and away from being included in a violation statistic.
